Ceramides as novel biomarkers for cardiovascular disease (CVD) related events and mortality are very usefull. We tried to identify their role in etiology of subclinical atherosclerosis by measurement of carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT). The presented study aims to develop two CIMT prediction equations using accessible variables. One equation incorporates conventional biomarkers like blood lipids, while the other integrates contemporary biomarkers like ceramides. Studies have indicated that readily available data like demographic and clinical information, along with traditional and newer biomarkers such as ceramides, could potentially be used to predict CIMT. This approach could have significant clinical and population health implications.
