Introduction: Ezetimib is a new drug used in dislipidemic patients, mostly used in combination with statins. We observed successful ezetimib monotherapy in patients with side effects during statin treatment.

Patients and  methods: In three patients, in which simvastatin or atorvastatin monotherapy was interrrupted due to laboratory pathology (elevation of creatininkinase – CK, ALT and AST) was ezetimib monotherapy started. In all of these patients control laboratory tests showed lowering of cholesterol and triglyceride levels and also lowering of CK, ALT and AST. No new side effects during ezetimibe treatmend occured. Detailed data will be presented.

Conclusion: Ezetimib monotherapy in patients with statin side effects is well tolerated and regression in pathological laboratory tests was observed. No new side effects occured.
