Dear colleagues, dear friends,
The Czech Society of Cardiology (CSC) is organizing its 23rd Annual Congress next year. The CSC is a successor of the Society of Cardiology of Czechoslovakia established in 1929 by Professor Libenský and other renowned cardiologists of the period between the two world wars; it is the third oldest society of cardiology in the world. We honour the CSC founder each year by granting the Gold CSC Medal (Libensky’s Medal) to one of the extraordinary personalities from our ranks for their lifetime contribution to the development of diagnostics, treatment and research of cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, one significant foreign cardiologist has been awarded with the CSC Gold Medal (Libensky’s Medal) every year since 2012 – this time nomination goes to Professor Salim Yusuf – a significant Canadian cardiologist and the President of the World Heart Federation (WHF) for the period 2015–16. Prof. Yusuf is going to give a ceremonial speech at the Congress opening.
However, most of us come to the congress not for our glorious history, but to learn the news from our field. We would like to remind you and motivate you to start preparing your abstracts in the coming weeks. The CSC Congress is always a presentation of the best from the Czech cardiology. The extensive program has been prepared by all the CSC working groups. We believe you will enjoy it.
At the traditional general meeting of CSC members the Committee is going to evaluate the results of the past (fourth) year of its activities; the proposal of CSC statutes updating will be presented and the office will be passed on a new committee and a new chairperson.
We have prepared a worthy social and cultural program of the 23rd congress. We believe you will enjoy this year’s congress and we wish you nice four days in Brno during the Congress and success in applying the obtained knowledge in your professional lives after the Congress finishes. We are looking forward to meeting you at the professional events and want to invite you to the CSC Gala Evening organized in honour of the 23rd Annual Congress.
